Barcelona striker Luis Suarez is slowly getting older and losing his touch in front of goal, which is why the Catalan giants have targeted a 200 million star to replace their front-man.
Nobody can play football forever. Eventually, your knees give up, you lose that speed that made you special and even your touch in front of goal slowly disappears. For a midfielder, there are positional qualities that allow you to adapt, but for strikers, this happening usually means that they are close to an expiration date. That’s exactly what’s happening with Barcelona star Luis Suarez, with the Urugyuan edging closer and closer towards the end of his career.
And while he has been sensational for Barcelona and part of one of the greatest trios in footballing history, the 31-year-old has struggled over the last few seasons. Last season, Suarez struggled to score goals, which further increased the pressure on superstar Lionel Messi, but while Suarez did eventually find his touch, manager Ernesto Valverde and the Barcelona board realised something.
Their talismanic front-man is coming to the end of an incredible career. Gone is the desire and fire to keep playing at the highest level, with Suarez struggling to even maintain fitness. That’s exactly why the club have targeted Tottenham Hotspur star Harry Kane as a potential replacement according to reports from Don Balon. The England star has been in sensational form since his debut for the club and has turned into one of the world’s finest centre-forwards.
But despite that, the English international is yet to win a major trophy and that has reportedly made him a little anxious. AS at 25, Kane believes that he is at his peak level and wants to put it to full use if not at Tottenham, then maybe elsewhere. However, given that the 25-year-old doesn’t have a release clause, the transfer fee could be anywhere between 100 million to well above 200 million, even if Tottenham wanted to sell.
Harry Kane is destined to make a move to one of Europe’s elite sides in the near future. And if nothing else, Barcelona would be the perfect place for him to do so and given the fact that Luis Suarez isn’t aging gracefully, it would be a prime spot for him to take over. But with Real Madrid and even PSG in the race for the superstar, things could get interesting.
