Barcelona to rival Real Madrid for Premier League superstar

Real Madrid and Barcelona are two of the biggest clubs in the world and it is only fair that they battle it out for this Premier League superstar.

Cristiano Ronaldo leaving Real Madrid is a big blow to the Spanish side. The Portuguese has made a massive difference to the team despite his age. Real will look to make a statement in the transfer window and Eden Hazard might just be the name who can closely match the departed star. Now Barcelona will spice things up by battling Los Blancos for the Belgian.

Reports from Spain regarding Hazard to Barcelona

Sport, a Spanish news outlet, has reported that sources close to Barcelona admit that Eden Hazard is the main objective at the club. “And if it isn’t Hazard, who else is it going to be?” was the answer when quizzed about it. Ernesto Valverde is looking to reinforce the squad so as to compete for the Champions League. Hazard reportedly wants to play the Champions League next season and that’s the reason why the Belgian is determined to leave the Stamford Bridge. Meantime Barcelona have confirmed the signing of Arthur who has arrived at the Nou Camp on a permanent deal.

Eden Hazard on his future

Hazard has come out with comments which might not please the Catalans.“Does Real make me dream less without Zidane? Zidane is someone special, it’s true, but I think Real is everyone’s dream,” he said.”Zidane or no Zidane, the white jersey is special but the blue jersey [of Chelsea] suits me well so it does not bother me if I stay.”

“For now, it’s the World Cup. As I have said at least 100 times, I am at Chelsea and for the moment nobody has made me an offer,” he concluded. Hazard has been on some from this World Cup after being handed the captain’s armband by Roberto Martinez. He was among the exceptional front three which destroyed favourites, Brazil, in a whirlwind first-half performance. Ultimately, they succumbed to Didier Deschamps’ France in the recently concluded Semi-Finals at the St Petersburg Stadium.

Author’s take-

Eden Hazard has been publically stating his desire to move away from London. As discussed earlier Chelsea not qualifying for Champions League will be a deciding factor for Hazard. Also, it is interesting to see how Barcelona are slowly starting to replicate a Galactico policy which Real Madrid are now getting away from.
