Following his impressive performances for France in the World Cup, the young superstar has attracted interests from top European clubs including FC Barcelona.

La Liga champions FC Barcelona face a tough test from Bundes Liga champions Bayern Munich and Seria A Champions Juventus in their pursuit to sign France defender Benjamin Pavard, who was a part of the French World Cup winning squad in Russia 2018.

In the World Cup, he scored an absolute, an absolute stunner against Argentina which helped France take the lead again. His goal was also voted as the goal of the tournament. He also featured regularly for France in the World Cup. He played all games for France except in their last group game against Denmark. Since then, there have been increasing speculations over his future.

Pavard Barcelona

Pavard currently plays for Stuggart in the Bundes Liga and has already become a regular for the club. The 22-year-old can play on a multitude of positions including as a right-back or as a central defender. Since the transfer window is slammed shut, Pavard will stay at Stuggart at least until January.

Until then, he would be hoping to take his game into another level and consistently improving. If any club wants to sign Pavard, they will have to trigger his release clause – which is €30 million which sounds fair in this inflated transfer market where clubs spend more than €100 million to sign players who eventually would turn to become flops – but Pavard’s decision will be important.

Since joining Vfb Stuggart in 2016, Pavard has made 57 appearances for the German outfit and has scored goals on two occasions. Whereas, he made his International debut for France against Wales in 2017 and has already played 14 games for the Les Blues.

Author’s Take

However, it remains to be seen how things would turn out. If he manages to deliver a string of impressive performances for Stuggart in the Bundes Liga, more clubs will show their interest in signing the young player. With clubs like FC Barcelona, Bayern Munich and Juventus in pursuit to sign him, there is no doubt that we would witness a close battle between top European clubs for this talented defender.
