Barcelona are expected to face stiff competition from Chelsea to sign Adrien Rabiot
Juventus have reportedly transfer-listed Adrien Rabiot. And two clubs have already shown interest. Barca and Chelsea are expected to battle it out over the French star.
Calciomercato reports that the Bianconeri are all set to offload the 26-year-old midfielder. He arrived at the club on a free transfer in 2019 from PSG.
The Frenchman has however, struggled to find his place in the squad. Juventus certainly expected from him. And after two average seasons, he seems all set to bid goodbye to Turin.
Manager Andrea Pirlo has handed him regular starts this season but his performances have been far from convincing. And his stats and figures paint a poor picture of his abilities.
Rabiot has registered a total of 57 appearances in the Juve shirt. In those, he has scored a total of 3 goals and provided just 1 assist. A rather meagre figure from the talented medio.
And that has convinced both parties that a summer exit will be beneficial for them.
Clubs have already shown interest in Adrien Rabiot and Barca is one of them
The Bianconeri have now officially crashed out of the race for the Scudetto. And a rather below-average performance from the Frenchman combined with a faltering club campaign practically sealed his exit.
This however has alerted several top clubs. And Barcelona and Chelsea are the frontrunners to secure Adrien’s services.
The Catalans are in a mood for makeovers as they look to boost their squad ahead of the next season. They went for a ridiculous swap deal last season and exchanged Miralem Pjanic with Arthur Melo.
As predicted already, that move has barely worked out. The Bosnian has failed to impress altogether. And the club wants to offload if he does not pick himself up soon enough. Reports suggest that he has already drawn offers from rivals Atletico Madrid.
On top that, veteran Sergio Busquets is in the finals stages of his career. He is not getting any younger and is possibly slowing down by the day.
Hence, the club considers a signing like Rabiot to be essential. The Frenchman adds depth to the squad and still has his best years ahead of him. And that is why Barca are planning a swoop for him.
Apart from Barcelona, Chelsea has also emerged as potential contenders for his signature. And Thomas Tuchel reportedly wants him in his line-up next season.
Juventus have put his value at around 20 million Euros ahead of the summer window. And the Bianconeri consider it a good profit since they signed him on a free deal. However, his future is still uncertain as the interested clubs may be put off by his price tag.
