Barcelona are on the lookout for a striker to replace Luis Suarez, who is on the wrong side of his 30s and have identified this £150 million star as the right candidate.
The La Liga champions signed Luis Suarez from Liverpool in 2014 for an astronomical fee of £75 million, but the Uruguayan talisman turned 31 this year and has already started slowing down. A club of Barcelona’s calibre needs to have the best crop of players in their squad, hence it won’t be long before the Catalans replace their current number 9 with another one. If the reports are to be believed, the Spanish side has identified Tottenham Hotspur’s Harry Kane as the right one to replace Suarez.
Kane, who was termed as a ‘one season wonder’ by many in his breakout season, has proved his doubters wrong by racking up goals consistently over a number of years now. The England skipper even bagged the World Cup Golden Boot award in this year’s FIFA World Cup after he scored six goals for his country.
The 25-year-old was linked with a move to the Blaugrana’s arch rivals Real Madrid this summer, but the rumours were thrown to the bin after Tottenham announced that Kane had signed a new six-year deal with the club. The news is that the player’s new contract earns him £10 million-a-year.
However, Kane remains a man in demand. According to reports from Spain, Barcelona are the latest club to join the race for the Englishman.
Many players dream to play for clubs like Barcelona and Real Madrid, but by the looks of it, Kane is not such a person. The 25-year-old is a comparatively loyal player and has a lot of commitment towards Tottenham. Also, English players tend to stay in England rather than move abroad and the same could be the case with Kane. Even if the Spanish supergiants come up with a huge deal, the star is likely to stay put at his current club.
