Two Barcelona players were involved in a training ground bust while the rumoured rumblings of discontent continue to affect the Catalans.
Barcelona are currently third in the La Liga table. They trail Madrid by 3 points as of now. Barcelona has had ups-downs following the sacking of Ernesto Valverde earlier this month. New Manager Quique Setién has failed to establish order in the Barcelona dressing room. This is also possibly the reason why many Barcelona players are discontent with the management. Even the fans were less than impressed as they scraped past Ibiza in the Copa del Rey and then lost 2-0 to Valencia in La Liga.
Although Barcelona have won their last two games it still does not appear a happy camp. According to Spanish publication AS two unnamed players almost came to blows at the end of a training session on Tuesday. As of now, it is not disclosed which two players had a bust-up. However, it is becoming evident that Barcelona’s dressing room morale is down.
It is not clear what provoked the clash, but it is thought their teammates quickly intervened to calm things down. The pair quickly brushed things off. It is hardly the sort of attention Barcelona will want to be attracting at the moment. However, with Setien looking to make his mark on the team. While Barcelona beat Levante 2-1 on Sunday, AS discovered that the team wasn’t in top form.
The players lacked coordination and Setien’s management is not bearing fruit. The players didn’t even make their pre-game hurdle when senior plays give speeches of encouragement. Following the loss to Valencia last month Setien said he was struggling to get his ideas across to the players, and admitted it would take time to get the team playing how he wants.
Setien’s interview after Valencia loss
Following the defeat, he said: “It was not an attitude problem. We were not well-positioned. We played a lot of passes without any sense to them, just for the sake of playing them. “They are still not understanding things or perhaps we are not explaining them well.”
