Rumors spread of Ousmane Dembele leaving Barcelona for Chelsea in the past. But recently the attackers talked about his future at Camp Nou dismissing any claims of his move.
The young footballer had been linked with many potential move to the Premier Club with the likes of Chelsea, Liverpool, and Arsenal linked. Earlier this month reports were emerging claiming Dembele wanted to leave Barcelona for Arsenal, some other reports also insisted Lionel Messi suggested the officials to replace the 20-year-old at Camp Nou. However, he recently spoke of his desire to continue with the La Liga Giants putting an end to all rumors.
Dembele made a move to Barcelona from Borussia Dortmund in August last year for a reported €105 million plus a reported €40 million add-ons. He suffered many injuries after joining the club and hence has not been able to find a stable spot in Ernesto Valverde’s playing eleven.
The French International has managed just 12 league appearances. Dembele explained that it may take a little time before he can return to his best form. “I am not at my peak performance, but little by little, I am getting there,” he said. “I have to work on my cardio because I fatigue very quickly. But at Barcelona I have a better lifestyle, at Dortmund, I didn’t have a good lifestyle and I was not injured, so that’s not the problem.’’
But Dembele is still planning to prove himself at Barcelona. He told Telefoot during an Interview; “I’m not going to leave after just one season, I signed a five-year contract with Barcelona. I’ll be here for a long time. It’s Barca. It’s like that. I’m glad that [Philippe] Coutinho has come in.”
Dembele is struggling to find adapt to the environment and with his injuries. However, playing amidst some of world’s best footballers surely is an advantage and learning step for the young footballer helping him to reach his best potential. Recent reports suggest that Dembele has been healed of his injuries and will be available for playing with the team.
