La Liga champs Barcelona have now completed the signing of €36m rated defender Clement Lenglet, from their domestic rivals Sevilla.
Barca are looking to add more players prior to the start of the new campaign and have now triggered his release clause, with the intention of bringing him to the Nou Camp. With that being said, the deal has now been done and he has signed for the Catalan giants.
The former French U-21 international has penned down a five-year deal with Ernesto Valverde’s side, who have now paid his €35.9m (£31.7m/$41.9m) release clause. As confirmed by the reports, the player’s deal now does include a release clause of €300m (£264m/$350m), which is something that the clubs from Spain are known to do.

His is contracted to stay with the Spanish giants till June 30, 2023 and is just 23 years old at present, which means that he will be a long-term star for them if he can shine quickly in their side.
The deal finally concludes a transfer saga that has been going on for quite some time now and he is considered one of Europe’s most wanted defenders currently.
With that being said, he will now be a great asset to the champions of Spain, who will be looking to once again lift the Champions League title in the upcoming seasons.
The 23-year-old star now joins a growing French contingent at Barca, which includes other stars like Ousmane Dembele, along with defenders Lucas Digne and Samuel Umtiti. With France reaching the final of the World Cup and some of these representing the national team in Russia, if these stars can really gel together and perform at their best, they could do great things under the guidance of Valverde.
Things are looking good for the La Liga holders, who have some talented players amongst their ranks now and will be expected to sign a few more reinforcements, once the World Cup is over. Though some of their key players like Mascherano and Iniesta will not be with them in the upcoming campaign, their future looks secure with such talented players helping them move in the right direction now.
