Ajax star Frenkie De Jong has admitted that he cannot guarantee his future at the club hinting at a move this summer transfer window.
Barcelona has been given a massive boost in terms of signing new sensation, Frenkie De Jong. La Blaugrana was desperate to bring in a new midfielder to replace the departing legend of Andres Iniesta at the club. And having being linked with Atletico Madrid superstar Antoine Griezmann for several months, the Frenchman delivered a huge blow to the Catalonians as he decided to remain in the Spanish capital pledging his future just days before the World Cup.
This has made the La Liga champions head into the transfer market and looks for alternatives, but they have not been disappointed by one particular message sent by 21-year-old Frenkie De Jong. The Dutch star has caught the eye of many top European suitors across the European continent and Barcelona is keeping a watchful eye on his situation.
De Jong Opens Up On Rumors-
Speaking to Dutch broadcaster AT5 De Jong was asked whether he would remain at Ajax he responded in a playful mood saying nobody can be sure of the future, “Of course you can never promise that as a footballer. There may be a club tomorrow that offers so much that you are away. But as it stands, I play at Ajax. First I have to get fit. And just see if I can play football a bit, then we’ll see further”
The midfielder was then asked about a possible move linking him to the Camp Nou and he turned shy and explained, “I do not really read the Spanish newspapers, Right now it is not so serious for me that I have to keep myself busy with it. I leave that to my agent. I do not know if he is working on it. Maybe, maybe not.”
Frenkie is still relatively young and has to work extremely hard even if he wants to get himself on the substitute’s bench at Barcelona because the Spanish champions are in no shortage of young talents oozing out of their academy.
