Barcelona enter race to sign Liverpool and Arsenal target

Spanish giants Barcelona have reportedly stepped up their interest to sign Monaco midfielder Thomas Lemar who was heavily linked with Liverpool and Arsenal in past.

Barcelona have reportedly asked Monaco about how would it cost to sign the French midfielder Thomas Lemar. According to various reports, Catalan giants’ league rivals Atletico Madrid are also interested in signing the midfielder. French side AS Monaco have valued their midfielder at between €70 million and €90 million.

Thomas Lemar has emerged as one of most auspicious players in Europe and was heavily linked with Liverpool and Arsenal last summer. Lemar has been a key midfielder for Monaco in recent years and also he had a big contribution in Monaco’s title triumph in the 2016-17 season.

But somehow the Frenchman didn’t succeed to replicate his heroics due to successive injury problems in the 2017-18 campaign. He has successfully found the net just 3 times in 35 appearances. Despite struggling to find consistency, he has earned a place in France National team for the World Cup.

Thomas Lemar is a young player and also is a very versatile midfielder who can operate in numerous positions. His dynamism and versatility appear to have attracted the Spanish Champions.

Author’s Take:

Although it is unlikely, Lemar will surely inject quality in Barcelona’s attack and also can act as a stockpile in crucial and decisive fixtures. It will be very exciting to see how Lemar plays alongside Suarez and Messi but perhaps will create a slight issue for Manager Valverde as Barcelona already have Dembele and Coutinho in their squad.
