Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang’s move to Inter won’t be happening. Arsenal now chased by two clubs.
With his contract expiring in June 2021, Aubameyang has become a pressing concern for Arsenal management. The player turns 31 this year but he is still is a prolific presence in front of goal. He has 20 goals for Arsenal in all competitions and is also the top scorer for them.
They might have to cash in on his current market value which is about €56 million. If they do not, the striker might leave as a free agent after next season. And while they want him to stay with Arsenal his silence is becoming more and more frustrating for the Gunners camp.
Aubameyang’s wish to move seems valid because at his age he needs to win trophies. The striker had different expectations when he joined the North London club. But under Arteta he would have to wait at least one more season for glory.
Football London stated Arsenal legend, Ian Wright, about his view on the speculated move. Wright admitted that if the player desires to leave he must not be criticized. “It depends totally on whether Aubameyang has the patience to wait for this to kick in, but if he didn’t I’m not sure at his age what people could say”, said Wright.
There were rumors of Inter and Arsenal engaging in a swap move for Aubameyang but all of that seems to have broken down. Apparently Inter has a problem with the wages demanded by Aubameyang. Aubameyang, currently on £200,000 a week would certainly want a better contract.
Barcelona and PSG are on a lookout for Aubameyang
PSG’s Edinson Cavani is one of the top free agents in the transfer market right now. The 33-year-old is yet to receive an extension from the French side amid interest from Atletico Madrid and Newcastle.
PSG was hopeful of negotiating a move for Inter loanee Mauro Icardi, but it is proving quite tenacious. According to Le10Sport the deadline for securing a move for Icardi is 31st May. As there are possibilities of a slip-up PSG is keeping tabs on the Aubameyang situation.
Reports also claim that PSG is planning a swoop for Aubameyang as Cavani’s replacement. A valuation of around €40-50 million would be fair for both parties.
Catalonian giants Barcelona are also very keen to bring Aubameyang to the Camp Nou. According to a report from AS, Aubameyang is looking forward to a move to Barcelona. And why wouldn’t he? If anyone wants to win there is no better place than Barcelona.
Luis Suarez is 33 years old now and there are rumors of finding a replacement. Although Barcelona’s primary target is Lautaro Martinez, financial implications make the move very difficult. If that deal doesn’t work out one could expect Barcelona to turn to Aubameyang.
There is no doubt about his goal-scoring abilities, however, there is the fact that any club who approaches him will have to give a lucrative deal. There is also the fact to consider that he has gas left for 2-3 good seasons as age is a factor involved.
