Arsenal will keep Pierre Emerick Aubameyang until next year following Raul Sanllehi relaxing a policy for players having a year left in contract rundown.
Raul Sanllehi has declared changes in the policy for the players entering the last year of their deal. This brings good news for both Arsenal fans and for the team who always wanted to keep their precious forward Pierre Emerick Aubameyang. As per the changes, Arsenal will take a chance and let their star striker end up his contract at the club instead.
Even though Mikel Arteta and the club have always mentioned how badly they want Aubameyang to stay and extend his contract. But Arsenal had a fear of losing him for free and the nightmare of missing out on such a player made them look for bidders. Aubameyang’s current situation has been monitored by several clubs that include Paris Saint Germain and Barcelona. Alongside Premier League rivals Manchester United and Chelsea.
The Gabon international only has 13 months in his contract to end. He was reluctant to sign any new deal with the club intimating about the conditions Arsenal must fulfill. However, it is not revealed if Arsenal really has tabled any contract for their top scorer.
Aubameyang already stated that he won’t sign a new deal or an extension unless Arsenal won’t qualify for any major silverware. The Gunners have failed to qualify for Champions League for the fourth consecutive season.
Arsenal has slapped a whopping £50m price tag on Aubameyang for the potential bidders. The Sun has reported how Arsenal has been a victim of an unfortunate history of player transfers. There are a number of players that could have given a good amount to the North Londoners. But Arsenal lost them either for free or for a cut-price amount. This happened because they couldn’t lock them into a long term deal.
The U-turn in Policy that could help the club keep Aubameyang
The free departure has put Arsenal in loss both in terms of finance and the quality. Head of football Raul Sanllehi took a pledge to end this system after the free departure of Aaron Ramsey and Alexis Sanchez. But the Coronavirus outbreak really worsened the situations and the economy has lowered down to a great extent. Thus clubs will refrain from any big move or splashing huge amount on the transfer window, unlike previous years.
The current scenario and circumstances made Raul Sanllehi relax down the policy for a time, as per reports of The Sun. Arsenal who was unwilling to let the 30-year-old move out were forced to hear the offers around £50million. Especially when Aubameyang states his will to leave the club.
Yet making a big summer signing doesn’t look favorable for now. The Premier League outfit also revealed they will not accept any offer of Less than £20million. Moreover, they would be happy to offload him for free in the summer of 2021.
The chances of replacing Aubameyang is highly unlikely because clubs would think twice before spending such an amount. Arsenal on the other hand would have Aubameyang for a complete year if any suitable offer doesn’t make an approach.
