Astonishing- Real Madrid Target Former Barcelona Man To Strengthen The Squad

The Los Blancos have reportedly identified Bayern Munich midfielder Thiago Alcantara as a possible replacement for Mateo Kovacic if the Croatian leave the club.

Real Madrid is preparing for a massive summer overhaul this summer transfer window with a number of players set to depart the Santiago Bernabeu. And there will also be a number of arrivals at the Spanish capital and some of them could surprise the football world.

Inside News-

One player who is keen on moving away from Real Madrid is midfield star Mateo Kovacic, the Croatian star has not been able to cement his place as a starter and has been mainly used as a substitute for the majority of his time at Madrid. Kovacic is looking to play regular football and if he is not guaranteed that at Madrid, he is likely to leave.

A hoard of top European clubs is interested in Kovacic’s services including Premier League side Liverpool. But Real Madrid is not at all interested in letting go of one of the finest midfield prospects. Toni Kroos and Luka Modric are not to be displaced from their position anytime soon but Kovacic is the next best option in the centre of the park.

However, if Kovacic decides to move away from the La Liga giants, Madrid are already lining up a move for a former Barcelona midfielder to replace him in the form of Thiago Alcantara. The Spanish international has improved tremendously ever since moving to the Allianz Arena and has gone on to win five Bundesliga titles with Bayern Munich.

But Thiago wants to win the Champions League while playing a major role in that tournament and Real Madrid are willing to splash out his valued €70 million to bring him back to the La Liga. But Madrid has one bonus in terms of luring Thiago with new manager Julen Lopetegui having a good relationship with the 27-year-old.

Author’s Take-

Thiago is one of the best midfield players in the world at the moment and deserves to play for a top club like Real Madrid but his past connections with Barcelona would give Thiago second thoughts on joining their fiercest rivals.
