Carlo Ancelotti prefers a move to London amidst interest from Paris Saint-Germain.
The former Bayern Munich manager has been on the radar of clubs aplenty and it seems Arsenal have made a breakthrough in the chase for Ancelotti’s signature. The Gunners have been on the lookout for a top-class coach and they have reportedly identified the Italian as a potential successor to Arsene Wenger.
Wenger has been Arsenal’s head coach since 1996, leading them to 17 major titles during his tenure. However, keeping an eye on the future the Londoners have contacted Carlo Ancelotti who is one of the most decorated managers of all time. He was sacked by Bayern Munich earlier this season after a run of disappointing losses.
Since then, he has seen his name linked to various clubs including former employers Chelsea and Paris Saint-Germain. Although recent reports emerging in England claim the former Real Madrid gaffer has his heart set on a return to the Premier League.
Ancelotti eyeing Premier League reunion?
The Daily Mirror understands that both Arsenal and Chelsea hold an advantage over PSG, as the 58-year-old tactician wishes to join a Premier League outfit. Out of the two London clubs, Arsenal is mooted to be the preferred destination. Gazzetta Dello Sport even reported that the Gunners made contact with Ancelotti earlier this season, however, no conclusion was reached.
In the present scenario, Arsenal would welcome the addition of a three-time champions league winner to their ranks. Indeed the Italian boasts a CV which would land him the top role of any European giant. He has won league titles across all of Europe’s top five leagues. This means that in Ancelotti the Gunners would land themselves a proven winner.

Only time will tell which club London club eventually manages to swoop Ancelotti’s services. Chelsea is, however, targetting Luis Enrique these days. The Spaniard is another world-class coach albeit without any experience of management in the Premier League. As for now, both the clubs will seek to end this season on a high. Chelsea will play Barcelona in the Champions League up next, while Arsenal will clash with Ostersund in the Europa League.
For any club, the signature of Carlo Ancelotti would be a big boost. The Italian is a reputed name in the footballing universe and would bring loads of experience with him. Both Arsenal and Chelsea are expected to bring in new faces at the end of this term, but will it be Ancelotti or someone else? Who knows? We’ll have to wait until the summer to solve this mystery.
