Arsenal is looking to fix the midfielder issue. They are looking for a partner for Guendouzi.
Arteta knows that midfield is one of the areas where Arsenal could use some reinforcements. Although Arsenal does have many players performance has been a big issue. No one in the current squad has been able to dominantly take over his position. Except for Guendouzi maybe. Arsenal looking for numerous transfer targets at the various positions.
Rabiot could be a good partner for him as they both have a very complementary skill set. Arsenal also tried to move for the player last summer, but negotiations broke down.
Rabiot had a good campaign in 2019. ‘It’s true that 2019 was a very good year for me,’ he told Tuttomercatoweb. ‘I worked a lot, I joined Juventus and I think 2020 could be a positive year.
But things have taken an abrupt turn since then. He has only 11 appearances for the club in Serie A this season. He even delayed his return to training and did not inform the club about his whereabouts. It looks like he too does not want to be at Juventus anymore. This could be merry news for Arsenal.
According to Metro, Arsenal has made contact, and Juventus have given a price tag between €20-30 million for Rabiot. Arteta is impressed by the player and acquisition price is also considered very low.
Should Rabiot return to his best form from when he was in PSG, this would be a very good bargain for Arsenal. It could be the beginning of a great partnership between Guendouzi and Rabiot or maybe Xhaka and Rabiot.
At least Arsenal will have reliable options that they do not as of now. Also Rabiot can play in various sides in the midfield providing a versatile outlook to the Gunners lineup.
Everton and Ancelotti edging the race for Juve’s Adrien Rabiot Transfer
Everton is set to provide competition to Arsenal for the French midfielder Rabiot transfer. Rabiot joined Juventus as a free transfer from PSG but has found himself out of favor at the club this season. Rabiot too is struggling with game time and has had skirmishes with the club management.
As of now he is the second most earning player in the league after Cristiano Ronaldo with a salary of around £9 million. Although his performances haven’t really been up to the mark.
Everton manager Carlo Ancelotti is also very keen on bringing the player to Merseyside. Ancelotti was also the coach at PSG and helped Rabiot improve his game and become a part of the squad. Right now he is in charge of the restructuring of Everton to a top club. According to the Express, Everton has made contact with Juventus regarding Rabiot.
Another key thing to keep in mind is that Arsenal would be very hesitant in dealing with the heavy wages of Rabiot. Everton on the other hand would be more willing to make a compromise than Arsenal.
Arsenal has an image is the transfer market. The club doesn’t convince players to come to London, it’s the other way around. “The moment we mention Arsenal, Ian you know what it means around the world,” Arteta said to Arsenal legend Ian Wright in an interview for Adidas.
But Arsenal’s reputation is not the same now as it was in the past. Both Everton and Arsenal could use a man with Rabiot’s talents and will probably battle it out for him.
