Anthony Martial’s future CONFIRMED: Click to see if he’ll stay or go

Manchester United are in for a shock as Anthony Martial has been confirmed to lie away from Old Trafford

There is no smoke without fire. Martial’s future had been under up in the air for a while now. His relationship with Mourinho grew frostier by the day and game time was hard to come by for the youngster. He was even dropped from France’s squad for the World Cup by Didier Deschamps. It appears that Martial has finally given up on his Old Trafford career.

On Wednesday evening, his agent, Phillipe Lamboley told RMC Sport:

“After thinking about all the possibilities and settings, Anthony wants to leave Manchester United.”

He ensued that United haven’t shown complete determination to extend Martial’s contract further adding:

“I think when the most powerful club in the world does not find an agreement in eight months of negotiations, it is that it really does not want to make an important player a part of its workforce.”

The fans demanded Mourinho to trust the former Monaco man a little more as the campaign wore on and the gap between Manchester City and Manchester United widened at the top of the table. The Portuguese, however, was undeterred. He brought Alexis Sanchez in January, limiting Martial’s game time even further, infuriating the fans and the player alike.

Lamboley also said that it is the fans who are keeping him at Old Trafford and without their support, a parting of ways could have been brought upon much earlier.

“Anthony is disappointed because he has shown for three seasons he had for the club and its supporters. Besides, I can tell you that without the unconditional support of the fans, Anthony would have already asked to leave United.”

Author’s Take

Well, that’s interesting!! Martial’s intention to leave, while expected, could not have been imagined to be publicly revealed like this. At just 22-years-old, the youngster still has a lot of football left. Tottenham have been linked with him all summer and his arrival could set a transfer merry go round in motion, possibly involving the likes of Toby Alderweireld, Gareth Bale and David De Gea.
