Inter Milan defender Milan Skriniar has confirmed interest from the Red Devils but has decided to stay put at the San Siro.
Manchester United boss Jose Mourinho has identified that he needs to strengthen his squad’s back line in order to compete for the Premier League title against local rivals Manchester City. But the problem has been trying to recruit a top quality centre-back in order bolster his side’s defence.
United was linked with Barcelona defender Samuel Umtiti but the Frenchman decided to commit his future with the Catalonian giants by extending his contract. And Barcelona also agreed on a deal with Sevilla defender Clement Lenglet with a deal supposed to take place in the near future. These were two major setbacks that Manchester United suffered over the last few weeks.
But United are still looking for alternatives in the transfer market and Milan Skriniar has delivered the Premier League side another blow despite the centre-back stating that he was flattered by the offer.
Skriniar Confirms And Rejects Manchester United Transfer–
While talking to the Slovakian Football Federation’s official website, Skriniar was asked about whether the English giants came calling for him to which he replied that he did receive an offer but decided to reject it in order to remain with Inter, “Manchester United? I heard from them and it made me proud. But I’m even happier that Inter decided to reject it and that they believe so much in me.”
A successful season at Sampdoria earned the 23-year-old defender a move to Inter Milan last summer for a fee of €20 million. But his incredible performances for the Nerazzurri could see that value in price rise significantly along with his reputation. However, Manchester United won’t be able to lure him to Old Trafford this summer.
Skriniar is a strong defender and would have fit in perfectly at the heart of Manchester United’s defence. But Jose Mourinho will not be able to bring in the Slovakian and will now have to look elsewhere in order to sign a top-notch central defender.
