Andre Russell powerful shot knocks Dinesh Karthik down in KKR practice game

Kolkata Knight Riders had a mediocre season in the 2020 season of the IPL at the United Arab Emirates. Dinesh Karthik gave up captaincy on his own in the wake of terrible performances.

KKR team management named Eoin Morgan as the captain. The strategy didn’t pay off as Morgan failed to steer the side to the IPL 2020 playoffs. The Knight Riders finished fifth in the IPL 2020 points table with 7 wins and 7 defeats.

Even Sunrisers Hyderabad and Royal Challengers Bangalore won 7 games and lost 7 games. But SRH and RCB had better Net Run Rates. As a result, they finished third and fourth respectively leaving KKR at the fifth.

KKR announced their arrival in the Indian Premier League in the IPL 2012 season. They won the title under Gautam Gambhir’s captaincy. KKR defeated Chennai Super Kings in the final.

After that, KKR went on to repeat their success formula in the IPL 2014 season. They defeated Kings XI Punjab (now Punjab Kings) in the final to lift their second IPL title. Since then, they have never made it to the final.

Dinesh Karthik floored by Andre Russell shot

KKR players are actively involved in practice sessions and games to get ready for the upcoming season. Recently, the two-time IPL champions played an intra-squad practice game at the DY Patil Stadium in Navi Mumbai, Maharashtra.

Ben Cutting and Shubman Gill led the two teams in the game. At first, Shubman Gill’s team batted first. Dinesh Karthik was the pick of the batsmen. The former KKR captain top-scored with 90 and helped KKR post 175 runs on the board.

During the innings, West Indies all-rounder Andre Russell knocked Dinesh Karthik down. Fortunately for Karthik, he fell to the floor and saved himself from getting hurt. During the run-chase, Ben Cutting’s side easily chased down the target.

Tim Seifert delivered the much-needed amends for the side. He was named the man of the match for his batting show. KKR will be looking forward to a great season this time around. Morgan will lead the team from the front.

KKR to lock horns with SRH

Eoin Morgan’s Kolkata Knight Riders will begin their campaign by taking on David Warner’s Sunrisers Hyderabad on April 11, Sunday. The match will kick-off at MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai.

KKR have bolstered their side with few important purchases while also retaining the core. They preferred to acquire the services of experienced Bangladesh all-rounder Shakib-Al-Hasan.

Moreover, they have another experienced spinner and he is none other than Harbhajan Singh. He will lead the KKR spin attack. However, it remains to be seen how KKR will perform in the IPL 2021.
