Liverpool’s shot-stopper Alisson Becker has finally revealed the main reason why he snubbed European Elites including Chelsea to join the Anfield club.
Alisson Becker, an acrobatic goalkeeping cameo, whom the Reds signed for a then world record fee of £67, has started his era at the Merseyside in a stunning fashion as the shot-stopper has already stolen the headlines as he has become the only keeper who is yet to concede a goal in Premier League. The 25-year-old man between the sticks caught the eye in a 1-0 win over Brighton as he chipped the ball over the on-rushing Anthony Knockaert before controlling again and making a decisive save in the last minutes of the game.
Previous reports stated Chelsea were chasing Alisson as to replace Thibaut Courtois but were beaten to the record transfer by the Merseyside club.
Alisson Becker in a talk with ESPN insisted a brief talk with boss Jurgen Klopp acted as a bosst for his move to Merseyside.
“[Klopp] is a person who gives himself 100 percent to what he is doing,” He told ESPN Brasil.
“The chat I had with him [before joining Liverpool] is one of the things that left me more calm.
“He showed his interest in having me, not only the club’s interest but also his. It was a long interview despite my staggered English, but we understood each other well.”
“He told me about how he works, how I would fit into the squad, how I also could grow personally here. He told me a little bit about the project — a project with a winning mindset.
“Now that I am inside I am aware that everything he told me is a reality. It is a club that treats you like a family, even the fans. They are very warm; they are famous for it around the whole world. It is a very big club.
“I was very well received by my teammates and by Klopp. He also treats the players really well off the pitch. On the pitch, he is also a tremendously intelligent manager.
“He prepares the game in a very precise way during the week, placing all players on the pitch to make us aware of what we are going to find on the pitch [during the game] and also giving resources about the offensive and defensive movements.”
In Alisson Becker, Liverpool looks like has found a missing piece of their squad’s jigsaw and the Brazilian could turn out to be one of the most significant signings of Klopp’s era at Merseyside. But Alisson needs to retain his consistency as these are still early days and later on tougher tests will be coming.
