Punjab Kings locked horns with Sunrisers Hyderabad in the 14th game of the ongoing season of the Indian Premier League at MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai. Punjab Kings won the toss and opted to bat first.
However, all their plans went in vain after they lost wickets like a pack of cards. Meanwhile, there was not even a good partnership for Punjab Kings throughout the game. Shahrukh Khan and Mayank Agarwal scored 22 apiece.
On the contrary, SRH bowlers stuck to their basics and did a superb job by keeping PBKS batsmen in check. Khaleel Ahmed was the top wicket-taker for SRH as he accounted for 3 dismissals.
Khaleel Ahmed conceded just 21 runs in his full quota of 4 overs at an economy of 5.20. Apart from him, Abhishek Sharma also bowled really well. He took 2 wickets to his name and gave away 24 runs in his quota of 4 overs.
However, Afghanistan’s right-arm leg-spinner maintained an impressive economy rate of 4.20. The young prospect conceded just 17 runs in his quota of 4 overs. He also took 1 wicket to his name.
On the other hand, the likes of Siddharth Kaul and Bhuvneshwar Kumar managed to pick up 1 wicket apiece. Lokesh Rahul-led Punjab Kings were bundled out for a paltry 120 in 19.4 overs.
Abhishek Sharma gets rid of Deepak Hooda
The left-arm spinner Abhishek Sharma impressed the cricket fraternity with his imperious bowling spell against Punjab Kings. SRH spinner got the prized wickets of Deepak Hooda and Moises Henriques to account for 2 dismissals. The approach with which he got rid of Deepak Hooda was a class apart from most other dismissals.
The dangerous batsman Hooda was dismissed leg before wicket off Abhishek in the third ball of the 12th over. After the first innings, a commentator asked Abhishek about the carrom ball he bowled to Hooda. To which, Abhishek said he has been practising that ball for 2 years.
