5 Reasons Why PSG Will Win The Champions League This Season

PSG have the likes of Kylian Mbappe, Neymar, Edinson Cavani, Marco Verratti among others but can they win the Champions League this season? Here are five reasons why they can.

Paris Saint-Germain has invested so much money in the transfer market, that sometimes it’s obvious what their prime target is. Having spent massive figures on the likes of Neymar and Mbappe, PSG chief-of-operations, Nasser Al-Khelaifi desperately wants to win big in Europe. Their domestic dominance is under no immediate threat and thus this season they might be eyeing the biggest prize.

After failing to qualify for the latter stages of UCL, PSG has left no stone unturned to bring the coveted trophy to Paris. It seems obvious that they will win the Ligue 1 title like a cakewalk, but their prowess will be most tested in Europe, a stage where they have yet to convince. France sure did win the World Cup, but can Mbappe along with Neymar help them win the Champions League?

Here are five tangible reasons why PSG could win the Champions League title:

1) Easy League Fixtures

Let’s be honest, after a tough trip to Europe, a team would like to face Dijon rather than playing Everton or Celta Vigo. Premier League and La Liga clubs cannot afford to rest their top players for league matches without hurting their title credential, that is a luxury PSG can claim. Ligue 1 with due respect, is not among the hardest leagues out there.

And while this may even help the Parisians in the group stage, it sure becomes a massive advantage in the knockout stages. The home and away legs in Europe are sandwiched between league fixtures, and while Premier League clubs have to play on boxing day, on Christmas’ eve etc, PSG can afford to rotate their playing eleven to keep their ‘stars’ fit for the big games.

The Ligue 1 season has just started and PSG is already top of the table with 9 points from 3 games, while Neymar has scored 5 goals already across all competitions. This dominance at the domestic level will help them to focus on the more important fixtures in Europe.
